My Last BreathThis was not how I wanted to spend my Christmas Eve. ‘Damn it,’ I whispered to myself as another white feather shot past my left ear, ‘His aim is improving.’ The soft hush of the wind and rain, and the regular beat of my own shadow, black wings were the only sounds that greeted me. I descended so as to gain a clearer view of my surroundings. I did not need mist or fog to hide me now, the darkness of this cursed night was enough. The city had died.
